A rose is a great tester where i stand with my color accuracy and simplification. I think to capture its form together with the translucent effects color must be pretty good. I think i managed to describe only the upper right part of the rose well, elsewhere i was too far off. I played a bit more here and there without real improvement. It's probably color and the brushwork mosaic. I will place a qiang huang rose under my pillow.

Now you mentioned it i only see triangles in the painting :-)
On the rose not. i overdid the lit edges of the leafs forming the triangles. Found no other way to suggest form somehow. Need better color and many more roses.

Very nice Thomas.  I like the way you have subdued the greens to enhance the color of the rose.  You have a nice variety of edges and it looks like you have integrated your colors for good harmony ...all nice.  Once again, be wary of odd shapes .....we see ..and are transfixed ...by the 2 triangular petal shapes, before we see the rose.
