Thanks, Michael - I think I get it - I'll mod and repost the 2 of them - BJR once pointed stg like this this out to me - I'm a bit slow!
Hey Jon. Not so much on this one as the other painting you posted. This painting just requires somewhat of a transition value between the edge of the foreground and the background. I would mix a value half way between the two and run it along the edge between the foreground and background ... that would give the illusion of more distance between our feet and the far edge ... it would also stop the illusion that the world ends at that edge and goes over a cliff........ the illusion would be more of a rolling over. Geez, I hope I am making sense????
Hi, Christine - thanks! the concept was the drama of the pale background mass looming in the distance over the close foreground - I think I need a better foreground and Michael seems to think some middle ground too - I'll try and get an idea to do a better verion
Hi, Jessica and Silvana! Thanks for looking - I didn't get it like I had in my mind, I'm doing some more versions of the theme
I like that village too...
Wonderful painting, Jon! You've made the winter vines so interesting with the variegated colours & the suggestion of the town in the background. Not an easy subject, I think, but you figured it out!
Thanks, Michael - actually I wanted the 'villagescape' to be much more of a clean cerulean blue...
Great atmosphere Jon ... I like how you made the value lighter at the bottom of the cityscape so it has the illusion of being behind the foreground.
