I have great respect for plein air painters!! First, what a sight trying to set up - stayed in my yard because I have no idea what I'm doing!! My photo seems to have autocorrected the exposure and lightened everything in the source photo - this was a corner under a pergola at 5pm - I think I should try for early light to get more contrast? Things have to improve from here!! I tried to keep shapes simple and colors flat - hopefully by the time I reach 100 I am doing better!!

Lori, I agree with you about the plein air painting being hard. I have been very hesitant to to jump into it. Starting from your own backyard is a good idea. I have been member of VAA since last 6 month or so, but haven't been doing exercises. I guess I should start from there.
Thanks Jess! It's great to have access to the material for whenever you have the time - I find myself getting stuck on some parts - like this outdoor study - I don't have the right easel or materials for painting outdoors - If i filmed myself it would make a great comedy!!! I find the process so frustrating that it deters from from getting out there again..little by little I hope to get the things i need to make the trek easier!
Good work, Lori! Good for you for keeping at it! I decided to take a "sabbatical" from the VAA because I just couldn't keep up, but I have lots of material downloaded to catch up on some day!
Looks Great, Lori! I will be the last one get into the VAA because I don't like home work.
Wow Lori.... 100 more? I've said it a million times... but still haven't done it .... Get into the VAA I mean. I hope to get the courage soon.
