Oils 30x40 cm. This is how the area where I live looked like last week... terrible desolation...
I'd really like some feedback on my painting and how could I improve it...I feel I need some basics... I'm ALL EARS and EYES!!! Thanks in advance to all my artist friends!!!

Okay, there you go!!!   Now the reflections are more "civilized".  One of your best ...sign it!!  Do you see how doing that changed the focus more to the man?  ...now the posts and the reflections do not draw attention .but they serve to move you toward the figure ..now the reflections look like part of the water .not an extension of the posts.  The staccato rhythm of the posts is a strong counterpoint to the lone figure.  The complexity of the gate is a counterpoint to the simplicity of the posts.  You say you did not plan all this? .....well I think a lot of painting  and studying has made you aware of strong composition ..without you realizing it.  Well, unless any of the other artists have any comments, I say ...Frame it!!

Glad things are getting back to normal for your area now Silvana!  We have experienced the El Nino pattern here this year, but nowhere near to that degree!

Like Michael said, a couple of brushstrokes on the reflections and sign!

I'll try Candi...

Yes... terrible storm... It's a 'El Niño' year, plus not very good drain works and too many mm in very little time. The routes were cut...rivers overflowed and many houses which were built on floodplains plus other nearby were with more than 1m of water inside.... a desesperate situation and total desolation...the ground won't take any more water neither...3 days of quite heavy rain... yesterday was the first day we saw the sun after 10 days approx (mind you-- that's not the constant here), and my children couldn't go to school for three days...

Fortunately everything is returning to normal again......

Hi Silvana.  No, not really.  What I am trying to say is to just put a  ..little ..more variety in those posts and their reflections ..how you decide to do that is up to you .....I was just giving examples.  Do me a favor and leave the posts  alone ...just kind of tweak those too  dark reflections and sign the painting!!!  :))))

WOW Michael! I admire you on how many things you can say about a painting that I am not even aware of... I just liked the way it looked...perhaps the poetry? I should try to be more conscious of why I like sth....!!!

So let's see if I get you right... poles at the left: lighter and cooler; reflections of left poles, lighter and shorter with more variation between them; reflection of man towards the edge of the painting, lighter; now I have a problem with the reflection of the posts inwards... as they won't show the post's reflection well!... ; andif I dare..I'll change that sky near the horizon....! If that it is.. OFF to correct!

Silvana I think this is just wonderful, are you going to change it a bit with Michael's suggestions, or try another later?  What happened in your area, a terrible storm?  Hope you didn't experience any damage!
