I played around on ArtRage with this painting changing the background. What do you think? Should I go ahead and change the real painting?

Thank you for your comment Charles and for telling me where to improve the painting.  I really appreciate that.

Excellent use of shapes and composition.  The background color adds punch in contrast with the warm oranges and red hues.  A touch of a few white highlights on the bowl and light yellows on the orange will add some drama notes.  The cloth is well done. There could be touches of reflected reddish light around the right side of the bowl and the cloth in front of the fruit.

Thanks for your comment Michael.  Yes the equal warm / blue did bothered me.  Thanks for highlight that.  If I want to have a blue background, I would have to put a few blue colour threads thru out the painting and then I might messed it up.  I will rather do a new painting and think it thru from the start.  I always appreciate your advise ... also on the other members.  Your advise is always clear and I always learned a lot from your advise!

Hi Aurelia, I agree with Ann's comment ....  Another thing with the blue background is that in the original, it is a blue/orange color scheme with the warm orange dominant.  In your version, you also have the blue/orange, but they both share the same amount of space ... you have equality and not dominance.

Thanks for your comment Jon.  Yes, I know it would probably don't look the same.  I am studying one of the Russian painters still life and has notice the Russians are very colourful with their still life's.

Hi, Aureilia - hard to say - both are nice. One thing is that what you can do on the computer will probably not look the same in real life!

Thank you Ann for your honest opinion.  I am busy with another still life and maybe I will put the blue as a background in my latest still life before I might messed up a good painting.  I kind of like the blue.  It gives a total different feeling to the painting - more funky.  Thank you again.

I am usually a fan of blue/orange color combination. In this painting I think that the loose warm background of the original lets us enjoy the items in the painting, t is restful and supports the subject. The blue seems a little distracting. That said, if you want to change it go for it and post
