I finally get it. I had to cut way back on the number of colors, and it all became clear. I;m so glad that I finally got my head around how to use the gamut mask.

It's funny what you can pull out of such a limited choice of colors.  Starting this painting, I was sure it couldn't work, but I thought I'd give it one last shot. The original isn't as chalky as this one seems but I cannot figure out how to get truer colors with my digital camera.
