Oils 30x40 cm. My second attempt for WS 39. Tried to put into practice things learnt in the previous painting! This is a small and very touristic town because of the 'Cerro de los 7 Colores' (Hill of 7 colours).

Well, no you cannot ..I least that is what I have read ..BUT ...anything can go, I guess?  Silvana, do you see the warmth that is indicated in your reference photos?  The sunny day has more contrast then the cloudy day, BUT, they are both pretty warm.  This is achieved by using less white in your mixes .  use more of lighter/warmer colors first ..then white very sparingly ..if something gets too chalky (cool), then add some more warm color to it.

THANKS MICHAEL!!!! I'll try to do the changes! My idea was to have the FP with the garments, but then the figure andthe Hill of 7 colours. I wanted it to be important... but I suppose you cannot have everything going on in the same painting?

I'll post my two ref pic:

Hi Silvana.   I like your concept for this painting!!! ...good composition ..I like the fact that it is mostly in light and the shadow shapes take a back seat.  So, may I suggest a few things? ...the mountain shape just above the trees at the end of town ....you need to resolve what is happening there?  ...is that a cloud, fog, rock strata ...?  that shape is too confusing ...it looks like a large canopy ...I would suggest you simplify that area greatly ..we do not need a lot of information back there.  Your focal point is the brightly colored garments ..so ...to keep us wandering away to the figure ..always a strong F.C., I would suggest you move that figure over by the garments!!! Now you have a FOCAL POINT ..AND ..AN AREA OF INTEREST!!   Now, when you tint reds, pinks, oranges, peachy colors, beige ..anything with the reds ....you must put the WARMTH back into the color ..because the white you used to tint those colors, saps the warmth from them and makes them too chalky looking.   ..so go back and add some yellow tones to your colors   Even though it was not there, extend your mass of trees from the right, over more so it forms a good shape and is not cut in half at the edge of the picture.  You might even consider throwing some tree shadow across the foreground road?  (more interest)   .also to add more interest and to break of the straight line of shadow on the road ..throw the shadow of the light poles across the road.  Then add a few dark and light accents  ..especially around your F.C.    I hope I did not overwhelm you, but these are easy things to do.  :))

New version with correct shadow. I don't know, but I just can't have the same pic with the subtle difference...  I think the reason is that yesterday was very cloudy and today it is sunny. Even though I took the pic inthe same place at about the same time, they look slightly different.... Which one do you prefer?

Thanks Jessica! You should visit Purmamarca! It's really a very nice place!

Absolutely Sherry! Street scenes are alsovery challenging to me. Looking at my painting, I have just realized that the person's shadow is out of place.... It took me so long to find the appropriate colour and to give it the correct light... I wanted to make it cloudy, but not so much, as I wanted to have some light on the shop... hope tohave obtained that! But that shadow is ruining everything! I also though of ading a person looking at the shop...but decided not to. ... the possibilitiesof screwing up were too high!!! LOL!!!!!
