Oil on Canvas Panel 5x7
This is a second painting of the Venice alleyway. I wanted to develop a painting that felt more refined. The colour scheme is much simpler this time, and I worked on the values very carefully.

I really liked your first version, but then I really like this for other reasons. Love the successfully backlit figures, their form and shadows, and the reflections!! Color, well placed and lovely as well. Perspective that just draws one in all the way to the bright light at the opposite end, a full range of lights and darks, interesting shapes, and again, a recognizable sign post that it's your work, always the story. Strong composition too. Love it!
Beautiful, as was the other version!
Michael, Laura, Linda and Mel - Thanks for the great comments. So nice to wake up on New Years Day to affirmation. :-) Thanks friends. And thanks too to Lyndon, Colleen and Silvana for the likes. I hope you all have a beautiful day.
love the feel and movement of this one..the architectural element, rainy day is always a winner in my opinion
Great movement in your figures! Beautiful painting Michael!
Very, very nice Michael!!! I think you handled that dark to light transition very well.
