I like the scene and muted color, Candi - I see this sort of door all th etime of course - and, boy, I love it! :), but in yur painting there doesn't seem to be clear/definite value structure - its' all mid value... ...?
- it's going to be a real shallow picture plane even with a nifty value structure - I feel you need more light and shade. Another idea I have looking at it, is to be a little more indistinct/blurred in the corners (a hieracrchy of edges/distinctness with only the centre of interest being 'clear'
