Thank you Mario and Mairo. I am happy you like it.
Such a powerful painting; you have captured the urgency of his movement so well :he is really thundering towards us. Well done, it is a work of art!
Great painting !!!
Hi Lawrence, thank you for taking the time.
The shape oh the head is correct. i even bulged it a little more than it does in the photo. Rhino Heads seem to follow a more concave line on the top an a strong convex curve on the lower side.
But you are absolutely right concerning the edge of the forehead. Making it softer an a bit darker would enhance the roundness and turning.
Yeah and maybe darkening the fold could help, too. It would not have that importance then.
Maybe I even correct that. The painting is dry now, but I had to do a lot of the work on dry paint.
Hi Silke, as I said, they're only very minor things - and only my opinions of course.
First is the edge of the head on the right hand side (as we look at it) between the horn and the ear. It feels like the line is too straight and should have a bit more of a bulge. But mainly the edge seems too sharp - could be softened quite a lot and shaded at the edge as the contour goes around to the side of his head.
Second is the fold of skin that follows from under the chin around the top of the leg. I think it should be faded away quite drastically (darkened to merge with the surrounding skin) so that it virtually can't be seen beyond the line of the neck.
That's my humble opinion. But I have to say again how beautifully painted this picture is. Really stunning.
Thank you everybody for your pleasing commends :-)
Stephen, you are right. It is a white rhino.
Lawrence, I would really like to read your suggestions.
I am planning to paint it again in a more expressive manner. And the more issues of this one I know before, the better ;-)
Wowee! Spectacular Silke. Great texture rendition!
I have a couple of very minor suggestions if you want to hear them.
This painting is superb Silke!!!!!
