Thank you Jessica, Cristina and Ningning! The consequence of not being able to decide what to paint next can easily result in hundreds of blockstudies ;-)

So well done, Thomas!  Beautiful blocks of colour!  Good idea to do something like that when we can't decide what to paint next... I think  learning what makes good composition & good notan structures is one of the most challenging aspects of painting.

Thanks Stu! You can read my mind. What can we tell an addict to nature? Stu, you better stay home and do some proper value ladders, sort and line up your brushes by size and clean your studio palette better than ever before :-)

Thomas, terrific!  Darn clean color for a quick on dirty!  This is the stuff I need to be doing, but the weather is so darn nice, that I can't resist going plein air painting!  Really rough duty and I am sure that you all feel real sorry for me.

Jon you always manage to drop something that increase my small set of concious vocabulary too! Thanks!
The dark side of the white cup looks a bit flat, doesn't it? I can't change it ... I like the title ;-)

Thank you Aurelia and Jane! Well, another study done more out of frustration and not knowing what i want to do exactly. It is not a bad idea to just through some objects on a table and just go. At least better than finding yourself stuck in thoughts about what to do. I feel i have come to a point where i need a clearer idea and plan of how to proceed. I feel i need to change something in my working procedure to avoid stagnation and frustration. It certainly has to do with composition (thanks Christine), it has to do with a more systematic way of building up towards bigger projects in general. Great to read positive comments in a state of being puzzled! Thanks :-)
