This painting has now been painted over!!! It was fun to do a quick mostly-finger painting and really sad that I wasn't able to find the time to do a serious painting for Workshop 2. I console myself with the fact that I kept the discipline to do something ..... :o) small consolation indeed! However, keeping the fun exercise would merely depress me, so it's gone on to be textural fertiliser for a later painting.

Thanks Steve! I hope to be more conventional this coming month .....

I like it just the way it is. Bet it looks even more vibrant in real life. Nothing wrong with a big punch of color.

Personally, I like the vibrant purple, but I think "he" wants to show atmospheric perspective more.  BUT I Do like your painting, it has it's own style, as do all paintings, that's what makes us unique artists!

Hi Sharon

You're quite right about the mountains and I did lighten a few of them with the khaki colour ... but then listened to the pupils in the class who voted to leave the purple that vibrant. I tended to agree with them as I felt the rest of the painting was rather muddy and the purple mountains gave it a bit of zing!  I knew this was simply a fun painting, rather late to be entered into the workshop, so opted for the fun element. Also, the blue of the sky and the river is very, very wrong, but rather cheerful at the same time. I was hoping to paint the artist into my painting as well, so may try it again sometime. I'm absolutely loving having this challenge .... roll on the next one!!!!

Going in to have a look at your painting now :o)

Be chatting again soon. And thanks for taking the time to give me a crit .... always appreciated!

Lynda

Very colorful, looks like a collage.  Looks like you had fun painting it.  I painted my mountains using the knife, too, to show texture.  What if the mts were a lighter purple, do you think they would recede more?
