"Riding High" in Galway, Ireland

Despite The Downturn ... I had a really good year last year and this year, especially this summer, is turning out to be just as good. I'm a smiling happy chappy! I'd say that tenacity and an awareness that I'm a one-man business as well as an artist, have been my saviours.

I'm right now sitting in a luxurious conference suite in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway, surrounded by most of my available paintings. The hotel bought two large horse paintings from me (The Warriors and Beach… Continue

Lynda, Thanks for your friend request and your comment on my Workshop 5 submission.  As to the color - I just decided to have fun with it and let it go.  I plan to do another or more Challenge 4s.  We'll see how they turn out.

Thankyou for the invitation to be your friend Lynda. I would be delighted. I have just been looking up the two artists you name as inspiration - I have never heard of either of them - it is so interesting on this site meeting people from all over the world and learning so much from each of them. Congratulations on your sales and may it long continue. I am a hobby painter I guess. No training just a few workshops and not enough time to paint ( am a nurse and naturopath so work a fair bit) . Look forward to chatting. Jeni :)

P.S you must love horses - I love the colour in your work and the feel of the horse it portrays. Jeni

It is good to learn the tricks of others  . Hope your enjoying the  site  Barb

Thanks Lynda for your comment yesterday on my painting Old Sentinel ,, Try3! Yes I get your point but I'm a bit of a stickler for identifying flowers, trees, birds and the like when I'm painting them. My latest has been dogs and of course the breeds are important to me. I suspect New Zealand has some very special unique trees. Anyways thanks again.

How crazy am I, today I painted yet another try, each of my attempts turn out differently and it amazes me the varying attempts at the same photo. The response to this challenge has been truly remarkable.

Hi Lynn

I paint horses too. My style is realism. I really like like you loose & colorful style. If you are interested there is a site called paint my photo. It has challenges each month where you pick a photo from their gallery and paint it. It's free and fun. Check it out.

Lynda, we also took care of my mother a bit years ago. A hard task, but hang in there because this part of your life does not last long when you consider "the length of life". I guess it is my turn to envy you......your own gallery! Best wishes for you on that. // I just put in a few of my latest paintings. It was a bit frustrating as I had to do it one at a time as I kept getting error messages. // I am really into trying to learn all about color and composition for landscapes and to paint in a more impressionest manor. "Let color say it all". When I don't know what to do I tend to fall back to my old way of realism and details. I love this journey though. Have a good day. Ro

Lynda, I am new to the site and have not added any of my paintings. I guess I should take the time and put in at least a few. We live and travel in a RV motorhome all the time, and our summer travels took us to remote parts of Colorado, USA where we had no cell phone or internet service. I am still playing catch up. I sign my paintings R. King. Thanks for the friends request. Ro
