Lovely start, congratulations on not getting uniform with your rock collection.  The only thing I sometimes find helpful is a dry brush dragged on the wood for texture, but it really depends on the look you are going for.  Lovely 3-dimensionality happening and your shadows are delicious!

I like your design Jane ..nice division of space with 4 major shapes.  Your left diagonal movement is balanced by the opposite direction movement and the linear curve of the rocks is a nice contrast to your dominant straight lines.  So far, so good!!

By the way Tammy, just saw your photos and I can see you love rocks as much as i do. (:) Very nice work.

Thanks Tammy. I'm trying to develop my style in watercolors and acrylics but I waiver from being tight or sketchy or gestural. I find it more enjoyable to be on the tight or detailed on certain subjects. How about you?

I think it is going to be gorgeous - what you have done so far certainly is.
