Love this painting Alyson, roses are notoriously difficult to paint but you have played a blinder here.  Also very impressed with the brass pot.

Well thought out composition!!  ... gracefully moves your eye through the whole piece and keeps me pretty well engaged!   The gradations are lovely!!   Nice shape on the left (thanks to whatever bug chomped down on it) .... nice touch.  I see you put a lot of thought into your shape making and when I squint down, a very pleasing abstract design unfolds!! ... this is an excellent painting!!!  It tells a nice little story.

Beautiful, nailed the greens of the leaves. Love the color of the brass pot too!
