I have been studying my painting and it just dawned on me that my boats always look like they are sitting on top of the water, I forgot to make it look like it is emerged in the water. I guess not ever being around these type of boats, I forget some of the reality. it is just strange how things come to light each time I paint a different scene.

Thanks for the learning experience.

Excelent workshop theme. Beautiful and masterful painting Richard!

I’ve been in Yvoire two years ago. It is one of the most exiting touristical attraction near Geneva. The village Yvoire has won numerous awards for its flower displays, and attracts many visitors as a result. In 2002 Yvoire represented France in the European contest and won the International Trophy for Landscape and Horticulture. Well, I can only say, I am looking forward to seeing that :-)

:-) Thanks Silke. Going to paint it again in oils to see how that comes out.

Again very beautiful! I like it a lot. The light/dark pattern. The transition and intertwining (hope that is the right word) of the different color contrast sections in the painting; violet blue and yellow, blue and orange, red and green. Looks so effortless...

And you domed the building in the background :-)
