A few paintings I did plein air while on holiday - the top 5 are water soluble oil on canvas board & the others are small postcard size water colours. I had ambitious plans to do a lot more than that - but the sound of the crickets & beautiful sunshine, delicious food & wines lulled us into a relaxed holiday mode! Painting seemed to be too much like work in that lazy summer atmosphere!

Great Jessica!
I love Julian Merrow-Smith's paintings too, Craig. French artists are surrounded by inspiring scenes & the light in southern France is wonderful; no wonder so many painters are drawn to the area. I hope you get there some day!
Wow I'd love to go there , it is the home of one of my favorite artists of this day Julian Merrow-Smith
Hello everyone - thank you all for your lovely comments! It's fun to be back on the site, with all the positive interaction, help, advice & encouragement! Very much appreciated, especially since I do not belong to a painting group :) I have lots of promising photo references for inspiration now too. Have spent our holidays in France for the past 10 years! It's just as beautiful every time.
What a lovely little series of paintings from your holiday Jessica. Well done.
Good for you! I like all of them Jessica. Smiles ;-)
You will always have great memories connected to these little jewels, looking good !
The journal aspect is very interesting, there are some great painters' travel journals (from edward lear to titouan lamazou), for me especially as I know it so well - I think you did well to do so many!
Great vacation and great paintings Jessca!
A great journal of your trip Jessica.
