30x40cm oil on canvas, seagull on our river Elbe. To deal with the current seagulls either paddle or take short flights upstream. Here one lands and provokes the colleague to start and go further - relay race I call it.

Hi Lawrence, I agree this looks like matchsticks. I examined my photo again - see below - and I will modify somewhat. Going through all my other photos, apparently gulls landing open the feet while on taking off they seem to close the fingers/feet. I will put a bit more complications into the painted feet. Thank you and regards to WA.
This, particularly the water, is beautifully done Gunther.
One small comment - it looks to me as though the seagull in flight has lost his feet in some horrible accident. If it was me I would probably try to fix the feet (add some toes and webbing) or, failing that, remove them altogether. But I think the dangling feet is an important part of the story.
Again, beautifully done. I really like it!
Gorgeous! Perfect composition! Love it!
Yes, sometimes we get the "gift" of a ready made composition. :) ...... and good for you to recognize a good composition AND good poetry when you see it! Happy painting, my friend. :)
Hi everyone, thank you for your friendly comments I really appreciate them.
Michael, the composition, well I had good camera with automatic focus and took many shots. And this one was as it was. The composition was a gift really.
Candi, Glenys, Janne - the water I was almost afraid of. And it was not right for a long time. Eventually I closed the door premixed new colours and concentrated in silence. All of a sudden it became right. That is why I love your comments ;-)
great painting, I love the movement in the water
Love how you created the splash around your little paddler! Really nice Gunther!
Hi Gunther, I really love how your composition ties the two shapes(the gulls) together ... nice job on that, as well as the other elements of your painting.
