Thanks Michael! LOL, that is what Julie Olver Ford told me when I brought it in the first time, to "take the lines out"...said i just couldn't help myself! Just went out and tried to get a better pic...not quite so cool, but still off.. I'll work on it, but the baby will probably be getting more attention! This was just practice, and not too excited about a pic of myself.
Really nice work Candi!!! ... Your sunlight is warm and thus your shadows are cool .. which is good. But you painted your lights very cool also ....those lights should be warm, not cool. (I know, I am always the one who throws in the monkey wrench) .. Also, on the right side of the your face .. our right ... it would really be beneficial to throw up some warm reflected light into the shadow .. that would be coming from the sunlit portion of your dress. Throw some of those background greens (halftones) into the transitions of light and dark .. in other words .. don't isolate the background from the figure .. being you! Pretty doggone looking portrait ..oh, BTW, those dappled light lines on your left cheek .. our right ... get rid of those ... makes you look like you have wrinkles ... the more you simplify, the better!! :)) .. don't forget the reflected warm light ... kind of important.
Thanks so much Pauline!
Really lovely, natural looking portrait Candi!
Yep, lovely light, like I said - I suppose young'uns would be hard cos of the 'softness' of the features!
Thanks Jon! I found this lots easier to try to get, partly because of the light. The toddler is really a challenge for me, good exercise though. I'll keep srruggling with it!
I very much like the high-key/light effect, Candi - gives it zing!
LOL! Still looking like this!
Where's the smile Candi? Or did you paint this after Trump's election win ....?
