I love the bravura brushwork in this piece and the way you have suggested form while maintaining movement. This is a nice piece.
Excellent Your holiday sounds amazing I have no idea where those places are Will have to get my map out
Hi Annie. Still in Hafnarfjörður (Reykjavik suburb). Starting Sunday we will travel in the West Fjord (Vestfirðir) area where I will hopefully do some watercolors. Yea, I will be watching you. Splash on!
HI Guðmundur Welcome back Did you have a lovely holiday??? Am gonna do a water colour as well Would like to be as loose as you MMMMM Watch this space
The cat wasn't supposed to be there, but is now a permanent fixture, alas. I will just have to do another painting, maybe with a proper cat :=)
Thanks! I must have been learning something from these workshops (and others). I traced loosely the forms from one of Richard's photos. Then using a limited palette I tried to keep the colors pure, not to mix them much and not to push the paint around. The trick is to first wet the areas you want to paint and wait until the paper has absorbed the right amount of water before applying the paint. Afterwards I soften edges with clean water and add paint where I want stronger effects. Well, it's difficult to explain the process, it has taken me years to get this far, and the journey has just started :)
Love this loose style work Gudmundur. I would love to tackle something this loose and exciting. Your chickens have perfect form......I too see the cat!!! :-))
Love it!
