Beautiful combination of blue and orange color. Very soft shade on background! Very nice work!
Gosh Glenys this is fabulous! I do, however, agree 100% with Michaels suggestions. l especially love the cool leaves on the top left over the vase how they really push back to allow the others to come forward. I am going to do a still life this week that has oranges in it. This has inspired me to get going on it!
Hi Glenys. Always excellent work from you ..and this is no exception. Your concept is obviously color with that strong complimentary contrast of orange and blue. I do think that your blue jug is to high chroma (um, why does my spell check not like this word?) ... and is competing for attention with the oranges ..which is obviously your intended focal point. The blue jug does not "fit" with the rest of the painting .it stands alone due to its repetitive blue tone ...it lacks harmony with the rest of the painting and thus the painting suffers from a lack of unity. The solution would be to introduce the other colors of your painting ..into the blue jug . The body shadow of the jug especially needs to be warmer ....something like the shadow on the plate. That body shadow would be getting the warm bounced light from the oranges and the warm orange/brown table. Same thing with the light side of the jug ..some warm bounced light from the table at the bottom of the jug. .. Okay, great painting ..I think harmonizing the jug with the rest of the painting will unify the painting ...and really knock our socks off!!! :))
Wow, this is magnificent Glenys.
beautiful color palette!
