The color scheme works perfectly for this subject. It does look a little like Spring, but what's wrong with that?

Thanks, Hazel. The more I look at it, it looks more like the "last" snow - the one that comes just before spring! Maybe too bright on the greens?! Paintings sure change while you're looking away for awhile, don't they?

Haven't looked at this for several days. Wanted to get a fresh look at it. I'm not very happy with the tree; otherwise it's doing sort of what I was hoping for. This challenge taught me a lot about the shadows and light. I did another painting - totally different weather (summer in the desert) right after and I think it turned out better because of the practice I had here. I'll post that one on my page.

I used a limited palette of two tertiary complimentary pairs: (1) blue-violet and yellow-orange, and (2) yellow-green and magenta. Great challenge - my first snow painting!
