Yeah, you're right Joy - I find those trees very hard to do - maybe I should make them mush more massed and indistinct... thanks...
Gee, thanks, Michael! - great! - I'll get cracking. Hope this lesson starts to sink in, I seem to be having difficulty with it....
Houses on left ... Roof lines and some edges meeting. House on right .. point of roof touches background trees. Each tier of background trees touches each other. Background trees tangent to edges of picture plane. Telephone pole? Tangent to side of house on left. The top of the red shape even with top of hedge? Anyway, I am not being picky, I only critique things that have an impact on the painting ... and those tangents are impacting your illusion of depth, which is very important to this painting because you have many receding planes that require visual cues to separate each other..... those tangent shapes tend to flatten out that particular space.
Thanks, Michael, seem to have a major prob with tangents! - which ones are you seeing that I need to eliminate/change? the top of the front bush? and, um, ...
Great painting Jon .... be careful of those doggone tangent lines ... they really flatten out the depth where they are occurring. This is a very nice painting, so you might as well go around your painting and fix them.
