I need help. I'm messing this up. I started with a small dead tree, but it was too small, so I made it bigger. But then it didn't make sense to have a tree without leaves when the background trees are in leaf....and that's when the trouble really started. I don't have a reference image and am afraid I'm going to ruin what I've started, so I'm looking for suggestions as to how to fix my tree.

Beautiful Roberta. The small changes you've made look great.
Looks pretty good to me Roberta!! :) Nice work.
Thank you for the comments and suggestions. I should have added this was an 'in progress' shot. I know I need to anchor the tree, but was looking for suggestions before going further. I will anchor the tree, darken the foreground (and add some blue/violets to the distance).
Love the sky!
Hi Roberta. Your sky looks beautiful. Your use of soft edges gives the painting a lot of space and sense of spiritualism. I have no problem with the tree, except I agree with Fay, in that it need to be anchored to the ground with a shadow. Maybe slightly darken your foreground area so you have a gradation which will move you into your painting.
This is beautiful - I love the colours you've used. The only thing that bothers me is the trunk of the tree - it looks as if it needs anchoring to the ground with some shadow perhaps but don't lose the lovely light you've captured. I wonder what others think???
Lol Roberta! You have brought this painting to life! I love the sky and the big spring tree!
