This was my third attempt at this winter scene. Hopefully it works much better than the first attempt! Sorry for the bad quality phone photo.

Comment by Birdie on January 26, 2014 at 12:07: Thanks Linda and Jon. I think sometimes we just have to abandon the painting and move on. Which is the case here. I didn't have a reference photo, and I can see the folly of trying to invent a scene. The problem is I really want to practice winter scenes, since winter lasts 6 months of the year up here. It's too cold to paint outdoors, so I have to go out and get some proper reference photos and then practice!

The thing is we need the comments and adjustments to progress, but personally, I often feel I lose a lot of my original energy and experimental joy when I redo/revise 'em. Well, you explored it quite thoroughly - so that' s good - and it IS very nice!
