This was my third attempt at this winter scene. Hopefully it works much better than the first attempt! Sorry for the bad quality phone photo.

Inventing a scene is very, very, difficult! ......I have attempted a couple, but failed each time.

Thanks Linda and Jon. I think sometimes we just have to abandon the painting and move on. Which is the case here. I didn't have a reference photo, and I can see the folly of trying to invent a scene. The problem is I really want to practice winter scenes, since winter lasts 6 months of the year up here. It's too cold to paint outdoors, so I have to go out and get some proper reference photos and then practice!

Well, I still like it - but looking at the two I think I prefer the first one. The thing is we need the comments and adjustments to progress, but personally, I often feel I lose a lot of my original energy and experimental joy when I redo/revise 'em. Well, you explored it quite thoroughly - so that' s good - and it IS very nice!
