Thanks Michael. I did take it back to the studio and worked on it some more before I saw your reply. I'm happier with it now.

Hi Roberta.  Try putting a thin dark shadow just under the bottom of the pear and extending a shadow from the pear to the edge of the canvas.  Take out that too bright reflected light on the right of the pear and simplify that with a dark ....It should anchor the pear?  go back to Richards workshop where he paints the pairs ...lot of good stuff their!!
