Hi Iris. Thanks for commenting - truly. The horizon of hills is supposed to drop to the left - anything esle is due to the photo (I think, I hope!)- I need to be able to take better photos of my stuff - I read Richard's tips and the discussion - but my phots of paintings just aren't so good
Nah, - just dunno - I didn't want it to be 'empty' and after couple of weeks working on the project (this is about version 15!!!) I was too sick of it to try and get a really nice sky....
I like best the one with the moon and no cowboy ( the lights are cooler ) and the one without the moon. Is the horizon strait on the there paintings? Your work is fantastic!
OK, Annie - as I photoed it a lot I had the pre-moon version! - I've added it - but not in the workshop category. There ya go!
PS I actually like the moon and the understated moonlight scene early evening I think its lovely but would be good to try Particia's idea and post it so we could see what it looked like.???
Hi Annie - thanks! - having two versions of something sure generates ideas!!
Hi Patricia - OK - I'll try that - hadn't thought of backtracking on that! (ie removing the moon) - thanks a lot for the suggestions and encouragement! Cheers
MMMMM Yes I like this one better without the cowboy. Very restful scene Well done
Jon, I guess frying our brains is very necessary to push our own boundaries!! I have done it many times myself too.. I have recently discovered that by writing down what I would like to change in my own paintings, relieves some of the frustration that goes around in my head.... :)))
As I am typing this comment, the moon has automatically disappeared from my view, and I am able to focus only on rocks and shadows.. Your color harmony, form and value in the bottom two-thirds of the painting, is truly exceptional!!!
In my opinion, your beautifully shaped moon, distracts from the rest of your beautiful work. As a small suggestion, what if you painted a piece of blue sky on a piece of paper and placed it over the moon. It will give you time, to calmly think about it ... :)))
