Thank you for the detailed critique. Much appreciated. I made the mistake not to consider how quick the house wall would loose direct sunlight and i had to paint what i memorized. The windows are too dark but I can't change the painting anymore. I gave it to my friends hosting the BBQ. It was fun. A pity you weren't there. Nobody to talk with about painting ;-)

Thomas, I agree with Olivia ..including the windows.  Windows in the sunlight are part of the light....they would be a much, much lighter value then you have them ..they would also be warm.  I would suggest that you try not to "draw" windows, just paint a shape into the wet paint ..if it is too large, you can always whittle into the shape  Even though the window is dark, it is in the light, so you must keep the integrity of the light and paint them in the light family.  Now, as the window goes into the shadow of the eave ..well that is a different story ..that part ..you painted correctly ..because now it is in the shadow family.

Are we invited? LOL

Bright and lovely, I really like the composition and yes, I think Olivia is right, maybe you can add some colorful  flowers at the windows..

Cheers!

I love the way you have painted the foliage, the loose brushwork and the suggestion of the diners.

The colours are great reds against greens but with great variety.

The shadowed areas are great.Lovely big dabs of paint in the grass area and foliage. You are certainly gaining from  your studies of the artists you admire.

I wish I could say the same.I never seem to be able apply what I have learnt!

You might think of adding a bit more variety in the windows and doors. They seem to be  staring at me a bit.

But thats only me. Please ignore if you dont agree.
