Went out early this morning, there was no sun but a lovely pearly light. This island is west from my island, the hobby farmers keep their sheep there to graze during summer and there is a small hut there as well. I painted it a bit squarish because of my canvas which was 20x20cm. I made it in one hour by using large bristle brush nr.16.

They use boats and then put them in a seat kind of thing and haul them up, please note, these are only hobby farmers.

Thank you for your comment/s Silvana.

Hi Michael and I quite agree with you on all points I just was in such a hurry to finish in one hour that I did not notice until after I came home again, in fact the island is more squarish than the photo shows.  I think I will go out again tomorrow if the light is right and paint another one.  Thank your for your comments, I really appreciate you taken the time to direct me.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.:)

Good morning Steinunn. :)  I like your high key interpretation of this scene ..very atmospheric ...I like the way the rocks recede into the distant atmosphere.  A few things to think about:  A square format is very difficult to compose in ..it is very static to begin with ...by placing equal intervals throughout your painting, you have compounded the problem of symmetrical balance brought on by the square format.  The proportions of your rock are also squarish ..which again is compounding the problem.  The reference photo shows this rock to be more squat and elongated.  I think you would have had a doggone BEAUTIFUL composition and painting if you would have made the rock more into the distance and drawn with the proper proportions.  Also, make sure you include the occlusion shadow beneath the rock ..it is kind of floating right now.  As I stated earlier, your high key value structure and colors are just beautiful ....your composition and proportional relationships require your attention.
