C & C very welcome - trying some flower paintings....with simpler petals than roses - but have a lot to learn - it's a new subject for me & I find it very challenging!

Thank you for the idea, Candi - yes, I think I need to make the bottom flower more of the focal point - they are all competing for attention now.  I found it's also really important to figure out where the shapes of the petals will go - being haphazard & just painting it as it appeared doesn't work very well!

Jessica, if you want to go back in, you could try punching up color, volume of petals (bottom middle and one to it'sright)  front flower, and reduce the scale of top back one a bit....That would be my sugestion, where is Glynis, our flower expert? . I love how you painted the back right one, don't touch that!

Thanks Ana & Candi for looking & for your comments - yes, I learned about the toxic nature of these plants, fortunately from a newspaper article & not from personal experience!  I also like the leaves better than the flower petals - not sure what is lacking in the flowers?  Maybe I need to subdue the flower behind the main one more by darkening it somewhat to push it more into the background.

I really like your leaves Jessica! I have oleander bushes in my front yard, none in back as we have our baby (82 lb female standard poodle).  Since I'm on the same flower kick as you, might try painting when I get home from my palette knife painting workshop

It's poisonously good! :) You know, oleander plant has toxic substances so just take care. By the other hand it's a good try, every exercise it's a step further to achieve your goal.
