This is #38 of my Daily Painting Challenge of 365 Paintings in 365 days for 2014.

11x14 Oil on Canvas

Learning points:
1. I like darker backgrounds and contrast.
2. Blending the colors into the background to make them brighter
3. Using a VERY limited palette
4. Looking at things differently to create a more striking composition.
5. Adding color nearby to bring more cohesion into the painting.
6. It takes just as much time to do a larger painting as a small one, and it is easier (just more paint)

Pandalana, first I want to commend you for taking on this body of work (365 Paintings in 365 Days) With all those brushwork miles you are going to be so far ahead; you inspire me! I do like this painting's perspective and cropped view...your colors are vibrant and lovely. While the greens are good, I would like to see the edges softened a bit more, I find my eyes return to those more than where the light is hitting the flower petals. Like what you doing!

I like this one because you have more contrast, values, and gradation.
