A quick study, but... things went a bit green around the gills. Whoops!

Like it because of your attitude Michael! Smiles to you: ))
I'm having the same problem as you, Michael, in adjusting colors in the photos to match the reality of my paintings. I'm glad my little castle study was encouraging to you. Really, we just have to keep putting ourselves out there and trying. When my critical voice pops up, I tell it to go away. Literally. "Go away. I'm busy right now. I'm playing." And sometimes I have to get severe and tell it to just shut up. This was especially true when I first made it a goal to allow myself to be an artist. That negative voice was VERY strong in the beginning (7 years ago). Every time I finished a piece, I would put it up somewhere here in the house, as a way of saying to myself, "Yes, you are an artist." That was quite helpful.
Thanks, Montalvo. In fact, the actual painting is much brighter. The whites around the sun are brilliant white, and the sky just above that is an exquisite soft blue. (All thanks to Winsor & Newton, not much to my skill). I'm struggling at the moment to get the photographs to match my paintings :-( Everything comes across as dull with a greenish cast. If I adjust it in photoshop, all the values go out.
Michael..it's a symphony of colors. I like that you can see the richness of colors applied.
wow - very imaginative!
Ro - Thanks. I wanted to go with more yellow, but I'll wait for it to dry and then I won't end up in the green. :-)
Pretty and colorful.
Michael, "Drawing" with the brush is a very good thing!!!!!
Thanks Michael for the comment.
The looseness is probably more obvious considering the size of the canvas. It's really small, so it exaggerates the mark. You are right about the 'drawing'. I have noticed this in my work. My question is, is this a bad thing? It certainly gives a unique gesture to my work. I think often I am unaware that I'm doing it. I doodle a lot, little gestural drawings... But I have very little experience of painting, so the doodling probably comes through.
Oh, in answer to the glazing question. Yes, I'll glaze as soon as it's dry. I'm quite looking forward to it, actually.
Very loose and interpretive work Michael!!! Your brushstrokes are exciting and I can see that you are drawing with the brush!!! Your values look good. Are you going to glaze the gray version?
