I ended up finishing this at home got late to the party as it had been a grey day and last minute the sky opened right as the sun was setting but the most beautiful sunset I've seen all year. I spent more time taking photos and taking down Munsell notations which I've been practicing daily this month finally got the hang of it. The sky was a brilliant red at the value stage of this painting but I improvised. This past year I probably painted this scene 10 times or more, finally getting a feel for it.

I like the drama of this. You have used the darks to set off the lights. Well done Denice
Very nice Denise!
Thanks Michael, Jessica, Jon
I don't know if I'll have time to do the larger piece this month but sure found it and eye opener when I compared my color notations against the photo image. Hopefully there will a good sunset tonight we have a clear day here so will get out earlier to be ready for the color studies again. Same location so I have the design concept pretty well down now.
Yep, what Jessica and Michael said + I very much like the concept and "feel" of it. Really really good!
Very dramatic - interesting applications of thick paint!
Excellent painting Denise!! Good design, nice contrast of color and values.
