Oh thank you Nancy - the areas I will be working on in the morning are [1] the reflection under the plum [2] more definition on the top rim of the jug [3] the dark shadow area behind the orange is too flat [4] better definition of the brass tray at the bottom left and, finally [5] slight adjustment of the reflection under the front orange segment. These will be subtle changes and I have to avoid any further 'fiddling' but I do think this will put the finishing touches on. I do promise to post the completed painting then you can compare.
This is more than a still life -- it is a very good painting!! Looks like you really enjoyed painting this, I would!
Thank you Karen and Nancy.
This is my second actual still life set up and I feel I have much to learn but, I knew I wanted to set this one up in strong sunlight and by using the brass tray, I was able to maximize the reflections. In retrospect, there is quite a bit more 'tweaking' to do to this painting and, once I live with it for a few more days, I'll tackle the problem areas. Once I have it finished, I'll post another photo.
Lovely colour contrasts.
Hello Susie, Maithilee and Li - thanks for all your comments and critique [which is very welcome]!
Very nice setup, beautiful composition, delightful painting ! Very creative !
good job edith! i'd like to see your leaves go off the page a bit better - just in places - you have a couple tangents going. also more reflective color from the fruit and flowers into the white vessel. very nice though!
