Thank you! You're right! But sometimes you want COLORS a lot of them, LOL!

Yelena, you are just too sweet! I have a long history of painting. I started out in tole painting, then I started teaching tole painting. I moved myself into regular oils, and took the same students right along with me. I started WC and taught the same students. I ended up with opaque WC (gouache) and taught them that too. That was over 30 years ago. There was a long 30 year laps and about a year and a half ago I started in oils again. Im self taught way back before there was all the resources of the internet. I used to read such hard books that I did not even understand them, but I read them any way. I would never take offence at anything someone might say to me. I just gather it all in, apply if I think I should, and shelf the rest to think on later. I am always wanting input so please dont hold back. I know a lot (at least more than some one starting out), but when you compare me to a fulltime artist that has painted for years and years........no where that good (I think). I am very excited to be here among such nice, helpful people! It is just a blessing to be able to see such high quality art without having to go to a famous museum. Your trees were so good. /// I want to be a landscape artist using beautiful colors (similar to Richard R) and get away from realism to more impressionist. I was helping a friend in Germany start her first oil painting and she wanted to paint a gray picture (no color). My heart was not in the egg pic, I was just trying to find something that she could see the pic and my painting to see what and how I did it. ............LOL Now who is "talking"? he he Ro

Thank you, Ro!
I also got your email asking for comments and recommendations. Since then I've been thinking what helpful I'd say. But for me it is too complicated, if I do not know what basic knowledge someone has.
I'm always afraid to offend with my comments or suggestions.... People get different ways to get to their levels in art, so did I. I use to be an artist, ha-ha.. worked with clay, metal, painted on silk, but painting has never been my major. Why am I talking about it? Because I've always thought drawing was one of most important things. For a very long time I could not except photo shots as a material for my works!! believe it or not!! I changed my mind later, but I still think when you are starting, you better use real staged still life.
Would like me to continue! :b
Now I'm talking
