Hi jim and thank you for liking the painting.  No not plein air,  but i am planning to get out there with my new pallet, nice and easy with only 4 colours to think about.  Paynes grey is a fabulous colour when using watercolours the greens are so nice and it helps to darken blues and browns really well.

This is really nice!  I have piddled around with Payne's grey and certain yellows a bit myself.  And, I like some of the greens that result.  Payne's grey is one of those shadow colors that seems to get ignored these days.  Did you do this plein air?
