this is a very large unfinishe oil paingin I've been working on for sometime that I'm tempted to call Caos! lol.. After reading Richards workshop guidlines I see it def. needs the Notan app!

Thanks all, I have Painter 11 and Photoshop.This is a very large painting so I know I should just focus on the center for the detail.... I just always get too caught up in the details.

Sandra, lovely colors. Try looking at some black and white images of your painting. As you said your Notan needs work. If you pull your darks together and simplify the pattern, you will strengthen the painting. If you don't have photoshop or elements go to gimp and download it. If you posterize a B&W image of this in 2 values, you will have your Notan. Posterize it in 4 values for your 4 value study. Just don't toss it in! Stu

I agree with Kari,  by doing detail on only a couple of fish it gives the impression of some fish being deeper in the water you have plenty of different tones maybe just do a couple of more fish in detail allowing the viewer to fill in the rest
