This was an exercise in matching values & colors. The source photo was taken by Viacheslav(paintmyphoto) ..I cropped it for the exercise. Need to be more careful with my drawing - bottle is wonky! I went too light on the grayscale painting (lower left), but I think I came closer on my color painting (right)..(lower right is my color painting in grayscale) could have gone with more saturated color for the oil in the bottle, and lower saturation for the far clementine. Any comments/critiques are most welcome as I am wanting to LEARN!!!

Well, it says something that I couldn't tell the difference in quality! (And I like your oranges better!)

If only that was the painting Susan!! Lol..that's the source photo top left, my painting top right, my grayscale painting lower left, and my color painting converted to gray lower right. I eliminated that back vase to simplify

Lori, one minor change I would make to the top left painting is to move the vase a fraction of an inch one way or the other. You have a tangent with the cork and the right side of the vase, it took me a second to figure out what the light area above the cork was--but I'm really nitpicking (for critique's sake); this is a  beautiful painting and interesting exercise!
