I am trying some plein air, first time,  with my local Art group, however will do it in Pastel, more familliar with.

Because I  always paint from photos it will be a challenge to go outside my 'square'. But with Oils I better have a bit more practise !! On the other hand may be I should just dive in at the deep end and 'go with it', Yes I should indeed !

Anything really - its good to be painting again - have been in a desert for a while - zero inspiration - though I used to paint a lot. Water - clouds - seagul - all sounds good to me! Thanks for the stimulation and the opportunity to interact with other artists.

The last time I painted a picture outside was at least 30 years ago, with friends.  I am not sure I can handle
the people all by myself.  It seems that more people here prefer Richard’s photo,  but the idea to do a plein air is so tempting.  Can we have both: one photo and one plein air?

air?

I would set some parameters for this and give some suggestions to get you all going in the same direction. Obviously we can't all paint the beach or mountains so the parameters would have less to do with subject and more to do with considerations like time of day, color, finding interesting shapes, contrasts, variety etc.

I assume this is our own plein air topic, not yours.  Is that correct?
