Hi Ann - I have done very little plein air painting, though I plan to do more!  Before I went out last time, I checked on the internet for tips - there's a lot of information there!

Great atmosphere in this painting already!  And I really like the composition with the waves coming in & the outcropping hills & buildings in the distance - lovely scene.

Thanks Stu ! I think I will benefit from learning as much as I can from other accomplished artists on this site and at the plein air convention.

You have done an exceptional job for your first try at plein air painting. Cloudy/foggy day paintings with limited value contrast and mostly mid values like this are hard to pull off this well. I think you will get a lot out of the convention. Stu

I'm trying to do some plein air to et ready for the convention in Monterey CA. I put down the main color blocks on site but the fog came in so I finished the details later. Any comments that would help me with pleinair would be appreciated. Also, have any of my CA friends tried this scene ? If so could you post it ?
