I had that good (or bad) idea of offering a friend of mine if she wanted me to paint sth for her while practicing... She agreed, but wanted sth for her bedroom wall, which is painted in a moss-military green colour. She didn't want anything which had any specific shape, (so no landscapes), with, yellow, ocher, autumn colours and white, and finally (fortunately), she said that anything which came out was going to be OK....
This is what has come out... putting some colour, and just letting the brush flow ... I think there are a lot of things going wrong in it... so I would really appreciate all the possible suggestions and comments!!!! A bit darker at the bottom left?Less ligt? I still have got some time, but it would be nice if she hung it and not hid it!!!! :) !!! I'm no expert in painting, so less in abstract painting!!! Urghhh!!!!!

Had been wondering about you so I clicked on your image and your page opened and oh Wow  I just found your unique painting!  Way to go Silvana!  It is lovely!  I sure hope it is hanging on her wall and that it looks like you hoped it would and your are still friends!  Smiles to you ;-)

Well, now you have a real story for the painting, after your very thorough research. Funny how our art takes us on interesting adventures. Thanks for sharing this with all of us, Silvana. Stu

Thank you all!! I really appreciate you stopping by andgiving me your views!!! Perhaps I shoud do more abstract paintings... but I feel I am not prepared...

Linda, no... I haven't planned anything... I just had the palette, and the canvas... It felt SO BIG....and I had to fill it!!! Linda, your insight, that I wouldn't consider limited at all, is greatly welcome!!!!

Thanks Ann. I think that as you and Olivia pointed out, I'll darken a bit the bottom left, but just slightly.

About the 30... no she is not 30... While painting those curves, without really knowing why, another friend came by and said...'well, I really like the om sign you've placed over there...' I hadn't even realized, so I saturated it a bit more, making it more evident,( perhaps it's standing out too much?) . Then I stood back and looked at it and I found another 'om ' sign- (can you see it?)..... interesting... I think that that is one of the things some abstract painters must like... to paint, and then to see what has come out..but I am just supposing!!!!

Laura, Jon, Linda,  thanks! Stu, thx for your concern!!! Fortunately, I think it won't be framed. It's one of those stretched canvas on wooden frame.

I googled the om mantra sign:

Om or Aum Symbol of Devanagari  'is a mantra and mystical Sanskrit sound of Hindu origin (geographically India and Nepal), sacred and important in various Dharmic religions such as HinduismBuddhism, and Jainism'.

Looks very interesting Im sure she will love it. Have no clue about abstract so am trying to see things in it like swirly serpents. Would have put some darker one on the left to balance but I think its more interesting as you have it.

Great 3  D effect.

Interesting design. The 30 on the right is quite obvious and does not appear accidental. If it has a significance, it is quite close to the edge and may be partially cut off by a frame. Nice work. Stu

Is she 30 ?  I think the balance of the composition would be helped if you paint some of the dark swirls to the left also, the burnt sienna and orange but be careful that the colors stay clean. The lower right swirls have muddied a little. Keep the nice movement that you have already created

Silvana, I don't know anything about abstract work or what makes a good design. My eyes jump back and forth from the bright whiter circle on the left to the "30" number on the right and maybe that is what you had planned. I like the white center and the way it radiates outward with the values changing. I see soft and hard lines. I especially like the darker scrolling design, the wider one coming down from the top. My least favorite dark scroll would be the narrow one that has a couple of tails. Maybe widening that one more like the top scroll and bring it over to the left and then down out of the picture and then come up again softly more towards the left. It might connect both sides of the picture better. I say all this but at the same time I like the unusual design, the unexpected! Hope my limited insight helps :)
