Hi Ann, Thank you for your kind comments!
It was a really bright sunny day [quite a change here in Nr.Ireland] so I positioned the brass tray next to the window, out of direct sunlight but close to the sun room wall so that I could take advantage of the reflected light from the side. This reflected light is quite soft but, because of the reflective nature of the tray, it almost appears as another artificial light source.
Too much light will actually wash out colour [e.g. direct sunlight or artificial light which is placed too close, etc.] so this is probably what's causing you these problems. Play around with different set ups until you find a 'recipe' that you like and have fun doing it!
Happy painting Ann!
Hi Edith, Love the light on your painting. Hoe did you set this up ? I can see that the main light source is the window. But I also see other light bouncing around the painting that leads the viewer to find new delights. Did you use additional light sources to keep the light balance ? When I try to use that much light behind the objects, I lose the color and detail of the objects. I know that this is a complicated question and that you may not have time to answer it. I'm an admirer of your beautiful work.
nice painting , congratulation i like the set-up and the warm color
