I like your painting very much. The colours are very dramatic and if this is what you produce as a newbie I'm impressed. Good work

Pauline, I am very much a totally amateur watercolorist and only occasionally paint in water colors.  I do think your painting is quite good, especially for someone just starting out in water colors.  After I started off in oils as a child, I had a long spell of no painting but a lot of drawing and other arts and crafts.  I started back up with acrylics and occasional watercolors as a young adult and then went back to mainly oils about 13 years ago.  I still occasionally paint in acrylics and in watercolors but really prefer oils.   Your paintings are well designed with interesting compositions; keep it up.   Stu

Thanks Stu,  i'm just starting out with water colour and i love some of the happy accidents and surprises you get as it dries out.  I'm using 600 grm paper ( a friend of mine works at a local paper mill so i get free supplies which is amazing) which means it will take a great deal of water without buckling.  I can see that my path is going up a little at the end i'm going to correct that now..... thank you for taking the time to critique my work, i appreciate it very much.  P :-)

Nice watercolor Pauline. You've done a good job with the tree branches. Your distant hills would look a little better if you had softened more of the edges by doing them wet in wet but they look ok as is. If you lightened the path where it starts to disappear in the distance it would draw the eye in a little better, although your fence does a pretty good job of that. These are very nit-picky suggestions on a very nice painting. Stu
