Thanks, Jan and Michael. I'm going to try a bit of tweaking. I suppose I used glazes a bit in both of them - there's no difference in paint handling between the two. I feel they could be moved forward, but it's beyond my present level to say how!

Both paintings are greatly improved Jon!!!  Don't know which one I like the best ...?  I like the sky and background on the left, and I like the figure on the right!!!

I love the colours in these paintings and the sense of distance.  I wonder if the perspective on the wall on the left might be a little off.  Were you using a different style in each painting - ie glazing or alla prima?
