Michael, big thank you for taking the time to study the three and to give me recommendations.  On others did actually think of mixing the orange etc, but as usual with me ... went in and put the odd colour in.   Thought I had done wrong at time but did not look at them as you have done and therefore did not 'see' (as we know in our own work this often happens).  Now, looking back I can fully understand/see. You have me thinking perhaps when I have a sec I may go back again and repeat one of them, as per your comments. Huge thanks, as usual.  j

Laura, Dorian, Jim, Robin - thank you very much for your great comments on this one.  it was the first one and kept it quite darkish. I really did love this workshop, probably the reason I did three of them one after the other.     Robin, when you start am sure you will enjoy thoroughly also.  Thank you again.

I commented on this yesterday Jen but the comment seems to have got lost in space! I agree with Michael - this is the best of the three - lovely contrasts and colours that give the painting plenty of life. Looking forward to doing this workshop when I can.

HI Jen.  Out of your three very nice paintings, I like this one the best because you have unified this painting with dominant color harmony of warm colors with nice contrasts of cool color that relates quite well.  In your other 2 paintings, I thought your use of cad orange threw off that  delicate balance of warm and cool that you achieved on this one.  On your other 2 paintings ..I would suggest that, for better harmony, you MIX any orange hue that you need, from your  Perm. Rose and yellow.  Your warm darks could be mixed from Perm. Rose + Yellow + Thalo Green.  The cad orange, I think, is too far away, on the color wheel, from your harmonizing colors.  You achieve better harmony because you are only using the main colors of your scheme. ...like you did here, but not on the other two.  My painting "Pounding Surf" has the same scheme as your other two paintings.  Any oranges or red oranges you see there, are mixed from Magenta (my red) and yellow.  My warm darks were mixed from various mixtures of Magenta + yellow + Sap Green.  Too summarize, keeping your complimentary or split comp. color scheme tight, you achieve better color harmony.  In a pure red/green palette, one would utilize both warm and cool, light and dark, high chroma and low chroma each of the greens and reds ...so you actually have all three primaries represented.
