I was wondering about that as well. In the photo, I thought of the trees at the base of the cliff as being tall, and the ones in the forground as being bushes. I will check out Richard's lesson. Thank you for your kind comments.

Nancy, your painting is very good. It is strong, the mountains are very much present. It is hard though to judge the distances from the size of the trees. I remember that Richard posted a video on this topic. You should look at it. It is very good, http://www.livepaintinglessons.com/freelesson/Perspective1.php

Thank you Iwan and Hazel.  I couldn't wait to get started with the new assignment.  Once started, I couldn't stop.  I'm still not sure if it is complete.  I'm not sure the river reads like flowing water.  It's hard to know when to stop.
