Feels like velvet to me!
Very nice Tammy!
Thanks Cristina!
Thanks Michael, for all your input. I really appreciate you taking the time to write up your note with lots of great suggestions. I am going to print it out and really try to apply your ideas to my next landscape. I have some photos that I have taken in the Canadian Rockies and I would really like to try to translate some of them to paintings.
Lovely work Tammy!!
Hi Tammy. You background plane is painted well .....very atmospheric, good edges, good value relationships. Your foreground plane comes forward nicely due to the darker values and warm colors ..all good. When painting landscape ..or anything ..... train yourself to paint masses before you paint individual .."things" Also, think Variety of color and temperature when painting the elements of your landscape. In this painting, you have painted individual trees and rocks ..instead of masses. Have variations of tone and temperature in those greens and in the rock colors ....there is a lot of reflected light coming from the ground and the sky ..all bouncing into the trees and rocks ...be sure to paint those warm and cool reflected lights. Try painting your tree darks with a more warm transparent tone near the bottom ...cool light from the sky will find its way .but more at the top. Last thing ...think good shapes ....strive for making a good shape in those trees and rocks ...I have a tough time doing that one!!!! Anyway, looking pretty good .just some variety in color and temp. needed.
Thanks Ngaire. I really liked doing it but I would have been totally lost if I hadn't had Richard's instructions. I am hoping I learned something from it and will try to paint from some of my own landscape photos in the future.
