I cleaned this up a bit, and adjusted the color here and there.

Thank you, Richard! I only got back from traveling yesterday and finally watched your video, which is excellent. I think I'll follow it step by step and then try this again. From the photo I had completely misunderstood the geography, which was clear in the video. I have made a few changes to this one which I will post, but I think it's time to start again.
Love the brushwork and figures are great. The rock is not reading well as it moves to the left. Looks like you've made it into a larger land mass but the perspective didn't work out.
Thanks, Stu. I'll try that.
Casey, your brushwork is excellent. The near sand looks very wet to me; some broken color in the brushwork would correct this. Stu
Thank you - I'm going to try to find some time to work on that awkward island today. Any suggestions are welcome. I don't do enough plein air painting and there are things I just don't know about landscapes.
I think that would help. And the land is a little too flat... maybe? :)
Thanks for the helpful critique, Sharon - I should probably darken the water around the island to anchor it. I will try that and see if it helps - I hadn't seen the problem before you mentioned it.
I am very surprised you haven't gotten any "likes" because I am going to like it now. I do like the people walking, so realistic! The waves are nice, too, but the island area seems to be floating on top of the sea, can't put my finger on it.
