Jessica, thank you. It is beyond my imagination to win the price.I was really flattered and appreciated by the votes though the numbers of the vote shocked me.  I value Randall's work more as it was completely finished by himself from the very beginning of the composition which was not a simple one. So many elements and relationship that he had to make right  decision how to deal with . That is more difficult than by following Richard's steps of teaching. And he did it so beautifully.I congratulate him.

But, from the fact that many people approved my simple work also teach me a lot:

Before be able to paint big and complicated masterpiece, I must first work hard on those basic concepts and skills. That is why Richard let us to do so and is what I need. I have to take it seriously.

Observation is very important,  Before I painted this painting, I stayed at "Ponta Negra", a place very similar with this scene, for 2 hours to observe the light and the colour. My intention was doing a alla prima. But then I found it was very dangerous being alone far away from the crowds  on the beach. I gived up. But the light and colour became a strong image in my mind. It helped me a lot when I was working on it .

Emotion and feelings are very important. I  had  feelings of this scenery so that I was able to work on it with respect and love.

That is all I can think about for it's approval by the votes. I know how difficult to paint  and how many  students here are so tallent and doing excellent work.  I will treaure this price as an encouragement from friends which reminde me to  keep on improve.

Waiting to see you to win the price someday soon. Thank you all again!
