Stu, thanks! I will save all my energy for the coming workshop. Then we are going to have a vacation from there :))

OK to make the sand brighter, but don't shift the hue because it looks out of place. His up the contrast in the area around the figure and put some bright (high chroma) color on the figure; just a few strokes like Richard does for his seagulls. Hope you are feeling better. Workshop is coming up soon! Stu

Thank you Stu and Cristina for your nice comments and suggestions! Stu, yes, the figure is my focal point. My intention was to make some interest color, strong contrast  in the focal area but I wasn't intending to put figure there but it looks like a figure so I decided to leave it there. Yes, I will try to do what you suggest to keep the figure more like a figure.

Very nice Laura. Is your focal point that little figure on the beach? If so, you need to desaturate the yellow spot a bit , darken the foliage behind the figure, brighten the color of the figure, and design some action lines to point to that spot. If you do all this, I'm not sure you really need the figure. Your focal zone will be obvious if you increase the tonal contrast, detail and chroma. A figure this small is often just there to provide scale. What are you trying to say in the painting? That may determine whether you need the figure. Stu
